Farnsworth Swim School has been creating life-changing results in San Jose for over 44 years. We specialize in accelerated, 1-on-1 private lessons for all ages and levels—from toddlers to competitive athletes. Our method is powerful, nurturing, and effective—students often learn in days what takes weeks elsewhere.
Teaching 1-on-1 is deeply rewarding. You build trust, witness transformation, and see real progress—without the chaos of group lessons.

✅ Required Skills & Experience

CPR/AED Certified (or willing to get certified before start date)

Swim team background or previous swim instruction experience
-
Proficiency in freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly
-
Experience working with children
💎 Preferred (But Not Required)

WSI certification
-
First Aid & Lifeguarding
-
Experience teaching all ages and abilities, including adults & swim team level

Familiarity with all six strokes (including sidestroke & elementary backstroke)

Experience supporting students with special needs

We’re actively seeking reliable, passionate instructors to support our program.
Schedule & Availability for full time

Season: June 2 – August 6 (with a July 4th week break)

Days: Monday–Thursday (No weekends) from 2:50-7:10pm in the Almaden & Blossom Valley Pools
- 2 Fridays on June 6th and July 25th
Position # 2: Swim Instructor SUBS for Summer 2025 🌞
Love swimming and working with kids, but can’t commit to the full summer?
Join our Farnsworth Swim School team as a substitute instructor—a flexible and meaningful way to be part of something special!
We’re actively seeking reliable, passionate subs to support our program. Subbing is perfect for those who want to make a difference, stay involved in our swim family, and still enjoy flexibility in their summer schedule.
🌟 Bonus: Exceptional subs are often invited back the following season as full instructors!
🗓️ Schedule & Availability for Subbing

Season: June 2 – August 6 (with a July 4th week break)

Days: Monday–Thursday (No weekends); 2 Fridays June 6th & July 25th

Times: 9:20am–1:10pm & 2:50–7:10pm
(We especially need afternoon subs from 2:50-7:10pm!)
Subbing is based on our needs—for example:

One-week coverage when an instructor is out of town
-
1–2 days at a time for last-minute coverage (e.g., illness or emergencies)
You’ll be notified in advance when subbing opportunities come up.
