One of the unique things about the Farnsworth Swim School is that we are a values-based business. Christina and I came up with a powerful set of Core Values and this is at the heart of everything we do with the Farnsworth Swim School! Having a powerful “why” or mission behind what you do is the key to success. “One who has a why to live for can bear almost any how.” ― Friedrich Nietzsche.

The mission statement for the Farnsworth Swim School is creating empowering connections that help families transform their relationship with water from fear to joy to mastery. This mission statement motivates me and gets me out of bed in the morning. It helps me move through the obstacles and connects me to my passion when running the Farnsworth Swim School.
Farnsworth Swim School Core Values

  1. Be all in-  Show up 100%, bring your whole self forward and have all 10 toes in the water.
  2. Growth mindset- Have a beginner’s mind, on a growth path, Life-long learner, striving to grow and improve yourself, let go of being right, be curious & ask questions.
  3. Integrity- Do what you say you’re going to do, honor your word, have a strong work ethic and impeccable communication
  4. Kindness/empathy- Be kind & have empathy towards your students, yourself and your team, be generous & open-hearted.
  5.  Courage- Lean in & bring courage to your teaching in service of your growth & the growth of others. Choose Courage over fear.

Whenever we hire our team, we share our core values with them and if they are not aligned then we don’t hire them. This applies to swim families too. I choose to work with families that share these values. Life is too short to grin and bear something that is not aligned with who you are. These are the values I live my life from, not just my business. The Farnsworth Swim School Values are a reflection of who I am.

I spoke to a friend a few years ago and he said he had a business partner betray him and as a result, his business fell apart. I asked him if he and his business partner were aligned in their core values and he said they never even talked about it. I was shocked and I realized that so many people go through life not asking themselves what their core values are and therefore, have no center or foundation to move from.

I’m grateful that I have a core foundation which I move, breath and live my life from. My mom very much shared these values as well. Thank you for reading this and I hope you gained some insight into the deeper meaning behind the Farnsworth Swim School. We are a values based business.
