Most teens, if they have been consistently taking lessons, are intermediate swimmers working their way up to advanced. They are definitely water safe! This age is very fun to teach—these students tend to pick up skills very quickly and they enjoy taking ownership of their swimming abilities.

In our lessons with teens, we focus on teaching powerful stroke refinement skills that create a foundation for mastering all 6 basic swimming strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, elementary backstroke, & sidestroke). These students will learn to able to swim up to 50-100 yards of each stroke as they become more advanced.

Some other skills we focus on include:

  • pre-lifeguarding skills
  • excellent dives
  • treading water between 2-5 min
  • rescue skills

We really enjoy our lessons with teens, and we look forward to teaching many more of these intermediate/advanced swimmers this summer!
